The City of Fort Collins City Council has scheduled a Public Hearing regarding the proposed Trash Services Pilot District on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 6 p.m. The proposal would create a Trash Services District for the northwest portion of Fort Collins, bordered by Prospect Road, College Avenue, the Poudre River and Overland Trail.
City staff issued a Request for Proposals for contractors willing to provide trash and recycling services within the proposed District. Two proposals were received and both contractors were interviewed. City staff has negotiated a contract for trash and recycling service in the District which is contingent upon City Council approval. The hauler selected through the RFP process is Waste Management of Northern Colorado.
City Council will conduct a special Public Hearing regarding the proposed Pilot Trash District on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, 6 p.m., City Council Chambers, 300 LaPorte Ave. The Public Hearing will include a staff presentation regarding the terms of the proposed District contract, City Council questions, community comments and questions, and follow-up answers from staff.
After the Public Hearing is conducted, City Council will determine whether to proceed with the District Proposal. Consideration of the enabling legislation for the District will not be considered at the Feb. 2 Council meeting, but rather at a future Council Meeting.
Additional information regarding the proposed Pilot District, including a map of area included in the District, is available on the City of Fort Collins web site, fcgov.com/trashdistrict.
