Medical Marijuana Regulations – Community Open House Seeking Feedback

Thursday, January 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. the City will be hosting a community open house focusing on potential regulations related to medical marijuana dispensaries (MMDs). The open house will be in the Community Room located at 215 N. Mason Street.

City Council imposed a moratorium on new medical marijuana dispensaries on December 1, 2009 that is set to end on March 31, 2010. The Council will hear a staff presentation on this issue at a work session February 9, 2010. First reading of an ordinance establishing regulations is scheduled for the March 2, 2010 Council meeting.

The City is seeking feedback on the potential regulations, which include licensing requirements, land use restrictions, restrictions on grow operations, and regulations regarding the way in which MMDs are operated.
